DMLR -Doctors For Medical Liablity Reform- is a common specialty organization fighting to have more influence in effective reform. With other measures blocked they are tyring to change the Senate, or at least make Senators and Congressman consider their side of legislative proposals. The specialties collectively represent 230,000 doctors.
They are now targeting campaign adds in four states: Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Washington.

Protect Patients Now in South Carolina is a group comprised of local specialty physicians, patients, business and community leaders who have collectively come together to voice their concerns over the issue of medical liability reform in South Carolina. On July 5, 2004, 30-minute newsmagazine programming began airing across the state, informing the public on the growing access to care problem that South Carolina is facing. The newsmagazines feature true, unscripted stories from South Carolina doctors and their patients. Rallies, events and other meetings will continue throughout the year as Protect Patients Now in South Carolina urges U.S. Senators and U.S. Senate candidates to protect patients now by supporting national medical liability reform legislation that includes an effective cap on non-economic damages.

On Feb. 10, there were two news conferences held in North Carolina: one in Charlotte and the other in Raleigh. Starting on Feb. 11, 2004, a 30-minute newsmagazine featuring true, unscripted stories from North Carolina doctors and their patients began airing throughout the entire state. Rallies, events and other meetings will continue throughout the year as Protect Patients Now in North Carolina urges Senator John Edwards and all U.S. Senate candidates to join Senator Elizabeth Dole in protecting patients now by supporting national medical liability reform legislation that includes an effective cap on non-economic damages.
